We’re currently looking for Software Developers, specifically with Java & Python as well as DevOps Engineers to help us work with our clients. Below is a list of the skills we’re looking for.

Skills needed:

  • Experience designing, architecting, and implementing the next generation of cloud-based applications which are dynamically scalable, fault tolerant, secure, and reliable for a cloud platform such as Openshift, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience working on highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems
  • Experience with Linux operating systems & shell scripting, and Containers
  • Understanding and Experience with DevOps tooling such as Cloudify, Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Salt, and/or Ansible
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one of the following languages: Java, Go, C#. Most of our development is in Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, and or Spinnaker
  • Experience in developing automated tests
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment If this is of interest,

Graduate Positions at Kani Payments: Business Intelligence Developer/Data Analyst

THE COMPANY

Our objective is to provide an out-of-the-box solution that simplifies the complex back office technology and processes needed to manage Mastercard, Visa and other card issuing portfolios and mobile payment products.

THE ROLE

Permanent/Full-time

Location – Home working and/or our Newcastle upon Tyne office

We are looking for a person with skills in computer science, mathematics or data analysis to build data visualisations, reports, dashboards and data views over large datasets.

This will be achieved through writing SQL queries to transform data and put it into views, and then building & deploying reports and dashboards on behalf of our clients.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Writing SQL queries in order to transform and collate data from multiple data sources into the desired format for reporting
  • Building data models that allow reports to be built efficiently and accurately
  • Maintaining an inventory of views, dashboards and reports, and managing changes to existing reports and the rollout of new reports
  • Authoring new reports on demand from clients as required by the business in order to improve our service offering
  • Proactively identifying new data that can be brought in to enhance business insights
  • Verification of data when required, ensuring integrity and ‘right first time’
  • Utilise automated tasks to deliver the right data and reporting to the right end users
  • Recommend improvements as to how data is generated and utilised

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The person filling this role will have:

  • Prior work experience or qualification in one of the following fields:  computer science / programming; data analysis; mathematics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of IT systems and databases
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, including the management of data
  • Competent writing SQL queries to create views

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • £18,000 – £25,000 depending on experience

We are seeking a talented .Net/C# Full Stack developer to join our team, developing a variety of modules for our SaaS platform using technologies such as

  • Angular front end
  • .Net Core back end
  • Microservice Architecture (Currently Service Fabric, moving to Kubernetes)
  • SQL Server
  • Microsoft VSTS for Git and CI/CD
  • Frontend technologies including AngularJS/Angular 6, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Writing high quality, maintainable code that is easy to read and test
  • Identifying and improving areas of our code base that could be made more efficient, more secure, or easier to maintain
  • Carrying out code reviews with our Lead Developer and other developers, actively reviewing other team member’s code to underpin good development practices
  • Creating system components from scratch to help us expand our client offering and to fulfil business requirements.
  • Actively contributing to planning meetings, including advising on the product backlog, and sizing user stories
  • Engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders to fully understand business requirements and deliver an exceptional product
  • Staying up to speed on emerging development techniques and technologies, and suggesting improvements to our development stack

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The person filling this role will have:

  • A proven track record of creating commercial, flexible Angular applications with C#
  • Creating responsive front-end applications
  • Front-end frameworks and libraries like AngularJS/Angular +
  • Experience designing SQL Server databases and writing efficient, optimised queries & stored procedures
  • Version and code management, (we use AzureDevOps and Git)

It’s not essential but would help if you have

  • Understanding of star-schema databases and data warehousing
  • Understanding and experience of implementing microservices
  • Prior experience working with cloud hosting environments, particularly Microsoft Azure

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • £28,000 – £35,000 depending on experience

Data Engineer (Python / Web Services / Big Data)

The Organisation:

The company is a big data technology firm based in the Software Centre at Sunderland.  We have developed a unique software product helping close the skills gap between industry and education.  We put right information in front of decision makers in education, government and private sector firms – helping them design curriculum, recruit, retain and train staff with the right skills in the right locations. 

The Role:

The organisation is keen to recruit a talented Data Engineer to help further develop their back-end data crawlers and python machine learning services running on Google cloud.  If you are currently in a tech consultancy or agency but looking for a product-based role then this would be the perfect opportunity for you. 

You will help scale out our data processing pipeline by adding lots of new data sources and improving our algorithms for clustering and classifying data, gaining experience in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing algorithm development and not be afraid of taking on new challenges and languages when needed.

Any experience in the following would be an advantage but if you have other skillsets we can still have a conversation if you are willing to learn:

  1. Data Crawling, Web services, API integration, REST, JSON.
  2. Python, Flask or other related technology stack a must.
  3. Data Modelling experience in SQL and NoSQL a plus.
  4. Cloud services experience a plus on any cloud infrastructure.
  5. Unix/Linux/Python skills to a good level.
