Organisation Description:

Principle One is a small, rapidly growing, specialist consultancy firm, founded in 2018. We work in partnership with UK Law Enforcement and National Security customers to address the complex challenges of an evolving threat landscape. From systems engineering to business change, we bring deep understanding of the domain and a passion for supporting those who work to make the UK a safer place.

Location:

We are based in Vauxhall in London and combine office-based with remote working and occasional work from customer site across the UK.

Role Description:

We offer opportunities for new and recent graduates. You will work closely with our experienced consultants, developing technical and consulting skills through a mix of on the job training and workshops run by our domain experts. You will deliver projects that range from technical de-risk and early stage proof of concept to developing new ideas and approaches in digital policing. As we are a small, rapidly growing business, you will also have an opportunity to contribute to our internal processes and systems as we grow.

You will have the opportunity to try out different roles, ranging from business analyst to technical consultant and have the chance to develop a wide range of skills.

You will be working within a team of people who are passionate about the work they do and the role we play in helping our clients to make the UK a safer place, tackle crime and safeguard vulnerable people. You will be working in a supportive culture, within an environment where everyone can contribute and constantly challenge themselves. You will also be assigned a mentor to support you in developing your career and support you in  developing your skills through internal and external training.

Requirements:

We are seeking applicants with a strong academic track record; ideally in a STEM subject but we are also open to candidates from broader backgrounds with a strong interest in working in the Law Enforcement sector. We are looking for applicants who are good communicators, self-starting and keen to develop new skills.

Recruitment is ongoing and can offer start dates in July or September 2021.

Due to the nature of the role and the work we undertake with our clients, you should be a British Citizen and be willing to apply for security check (SC) clearance if no existing clearance is held. You may occasionally be required to travel to client sites around the UK or work out of customer or partner offices for periods of time and we will work with you to ensure we get the right work life balance. 

Salary:

The roles will be paid at a rate of £31,000 p.a. plus benefits package (healthcare, mobile phone allowance and discretionary bonus).

  • Experience with Linux operating systems & shell scripting, and Containers
  • Understanding and Experience with DevOps tooling such as Cloudify, Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Salt, and/or Ansible
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one of the following languages: Java, Go, C#. Most of our development is in Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, and or Spinnaker
  • Experience in developing automated tests

Our objective is to provide an out-of-the-box solution that simplifies the complex back office technology and processes needed to manage Mastercard, Visa and other card issuing portfolios and mobile payment products.

THE ROLE

Permanent/Full-time

Location – Home working and/or our Newcastle upon Tyne office

We are looking for a person with skills in computer science, mathematics or data analysis to build data visualisations, reports, dashboards and data views over large datasets.

This will be achieved through writing SQL queries to transform data and put it into views, and then building & deploying reports and dashboards on behalf of our clients.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Writing SQL queries in order to transform and collate data from multiple data sources into the desired format for reporting
  • Building data models that allow reports to be built efficiently and accurately
  • Maintaining an inventory of views, dashboards and reports, and managing changes to existing reports and the rollout of new reports
  • Authoring new reports on demand from clients as required by the business in order to improve our service offering
  • Proactively identifying new data that can be brought in to enhance business insights
  • Verification of data when required, ensuring integrity and ‘right first time’
  • Utilise automated tasks to deliver the right data and reporting to the right end users
  • Recommend improvements as to how data is generated and utilised

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The person filling this role will have:

  • Prior work experience or qualification in one of the following fields:  computer science / programming; data analysis; mathematics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of IT systems and databases
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, including the management of data
  • Competent writing SQL queries to create views

SALARY AND BENEFITS
