Volunteer Opportunity as a Developer for Newcastle Uni Start-Up

Three Newcastle London Banking and Finance MSc students are looking for a software developer or developers to join our newly founded venture. We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurially oriented software developer to create a software that is going to be the backbone of our start-up. The software needed is a trading platform where users are going to be able to trade assets that we produce. The developer or developers are going to be needed to create the trading platform for both OS and Android as well as PC and to create the algorithm that is going to price the assets via supply and demand. We are not looking for freelancers to hire, we are looking for developers that are going to be a part of this start-up in the long run. If you have an entrepreneurial mindset and skills needed to create this type of platform fell free to contact us.

Interested in developing teaching and communication skills?

Code First: Girls are looking for volunteer instructors and ambassadors to run or promote free community coding courses at Newcastle University this autumn.
The programme aims to get more women in tech and is a great opportunity for developing teaching and influencing skills.  Instructors come from a variety of coding backgrounds and include computer science postgrads with programming experience, freelance developers and university lecturers.
Courses run once a week for 8 weeks on a weekday evening for 2 hours, Monday-Thursday and all  participants are aged 18 or above.  Further information and application details can be found online

We’re looking to lead the next generation of digital and artificial intelligence solutions within our exciting Upstream IT&S Team. This team looks to combine Subsurface, Wells and Operations expertise with digital innovation.

This role is aligned to 3 of the 4 key elements of the BP Strategy Platform for growth:

– Shifting to gas and advantaged oil in the Upstream

Requirements

If you are a coder with an interest or background in Oil & Gas related sciences or a scientist with some computing skills we want you!

You will need to be on track to receive a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in one of the following: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Systems, Earth Science, Engineering Geology/Geophysics, Data Management, Maths, Surveying, Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Geoscience, Natural Sciences, Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geology and Physics.
