We have an opening for a Computer Science student, to work as a R&D Software Engineer for a year. We will train you on how to design Agilent products, specify the components that make up the products, craft and develop products, processes, systems, services or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniques. We will also make sure that you are be able to facilitate transition of product design and improvement to full production/delivery.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software through the entire product life cycle from customer requirement definition to product shipment and post-sales support.
  • Manage project priorities, targets, and results.
  • Close collaboration and frequent interaction with other R&D subject areas such as mechanical, electronics and firmware engineers.
  • Coordinate with colleagues from other functions such as service, marketing, support, and test.
  • Collaborate with other business groups across Agilent as necessary.
  • Supervise industry trends for technological evolutions and implement

Your profile:

  • Currently studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc., Bachelors or Master’s Degree. This position is not open to graduates.
  • Minimum of upper second class grades
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn

Experience / Skills

  • 2:1 or above Computer Science Degree or equivalent required
  • Alternatively – candidates that have completed courses provided by others will be reviewed
  • Knowledge and experience of HTML, CSS, and Javascript required
  • Knowledge and experience of Typescript, Nuxt with Vue, Tailwind, and Storybook desirable
  • Industry experience desirable
  • Knowledge of the financial sector preferable but the company is willing to provide training through CISI if suitable

As a Junior Software Developer, you will be ‘buddied’ with a more experienced Developer where your focus will mirror the work of your buddy. Within a 3-month period we would expect you to have progressed each Performance Gatepost, so you are able to develop with greater autonomy.
