YINI is ideal for students studying either a STEM, Computing, Business or Marketing Degree.

What is YINI?

A paid placement opportunity for Undergraduate students to;

  • Increase & Improve their Employability Skills through relevant work experience
  • Build links with Employers for possible graduate employment
  • Gain an Industrial Accreditation (up to Platinum Level)
  • Go into the world of work with support from the YINI scheme
  • Opportunity to develop work-ready skills through a range of YINI Master Class Workshops

Who is YINI for?

YINI is open to any student with the Right to Work in the UK, who is seeking;

  • A paid placement lasting between 10-12 months
  • A placement usually taken in the penultimate year of their degree or a placement taken & completed before graduation

Students are usually in their penultimate year of their degree, likely studying one of the following;

  • Engineering (such as Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Systems, Manufacturing)
  • Computer Science, Software, Systems, IT
  • Physics
  • Business
  • Marketing

Most of our placements are in:                Science, Engineering, Technology or Maths (inc. Computing, Electronics)

Smaller number in:                                       Business, Finance, IT, HR or Marketing

 

Who do we place with?                               Large blue-chip companies such as Rolls Royce, Network Rail and EDF Energy, as well as SMEs

                                                                           Across the UK (except Northern Ireland)

Applications Open for Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

The Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities is part of Google’s commitment to help innovators of the future make the most of their talents. Scholarships are aimed at computer science students with disabilities and are provided in partnership with EmployAbility, a non-profit organisation dedicated to assisting students with disabilities while they pursue education and promising careers.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be university students studying computer science, computer engineering, informatics, or closely related technical field at a university in Europe or Israel with a disability.
  • Be enrolled as full-time or part-time students for the 2018/2019 academic year, or intend to be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student at a university in Europe for the 2019/2020 academic year.
  • Maintain a strong academic record.
  • Exemplify leadership and passion for computer science and technology.
  • Be 18 years of age or older as of 17 September 2018.

Scholarship amount is €7,000 (or equivalent).

Computer Engineer

We are a global, award-winning specialist energy consultancy and solutions provider, having won the UK’s best place to work in 2017 as well as a number of specialist indus- try awards.

We are looking for a Computer Engineer to join our Gateshead HQ with travel to our brand new Malta office. You will maintain and enhance our current operating platforms on our Energy Management System and work with our application development team to integrate new applications into the network working with a per second, live billing platform. You will be responsible for collaborating with the Network Architect to work out the details involved with developing and implementing new network segments. You will also be asked to occasionally offer support to the executive staff for internal network issues and mobile computing challenges.

This is a temporary position with an immediate start and will involve extensive travel to our offices in Malta and India. All costs will be covered by NGP Ltd. You will work very closely with our UX & UI developers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
TCP/IP Internet exposure and some knowledge of ARP/RIP
C++ and JAVA programming exposure preferred
Exposure with IP PBX system development and support
Demonstrated ability in network troubleshooting utilizing tools such as TCPdu

Reporting to the Internal Development Technical Lead, the Junior Developer works within the internal development team facilitating FDM’s IT development and deployment efforts across its global estate. The development team primarily use C# (knowledge of any OO language will suffice) to build applications for the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configuration of applications and environments across a variety of business domains.
  • Proactively monitor and manage core development platforms to support the development pipeline.
  • Development of key internal applications that help support the wider business.
  • Involvement in full SDLC including design, build and test of FDM’s IT systems.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the FDM business model.
  • Complete any other work as required.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Degree discipline – studying Information Technology or Computer Science and on track to achieve a 2:1 classification.
  • Coding – experience of an object orientated programming language; C# is preferable but any other OO language will be acceptable.
  • Communication – demonstrate skills in effective verbal and written professional communication; professional and outgoing approach; appropriate level of report writing and professional email communication; confidence when delivering presentations.
  • Valuing Others – work individually and collaboratively within the team and wider organisation; show respect and courtesy towards colleagues irrespective
