The Year in Industry (YINI), part of the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), is a not for profit organisation offering Undergraduate students a free extra resource when searching for year out, paid placements as part of their degree studies. Candidates placed through the YINI scheme have access to additional mentor support, one day master classes and industrial accreditation. Job Description

The Year in Industry (YINI) scheme have two 12-month Placement opportunities commencing Sept 2018 ideally suited to students studying Computer Science with an interest in programming, ideally with experience with PHP and JavaScript.

We are looking for highly motivated applicants to become members of our development team. The placement will involve the candidate in the development and maintenance of new and existing solutions. Through this they will become skilled in our development environment and involved in our product release cycle.

Ideal candidates are likely to have a background in computing, they will be scientifically minded and have a desire to increase their technical proficiency.

From a technical perspective, successful candidates will be given the opportunity to work with various web technologies such as PHP, JavaScript, Drupal, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and .Net languages. We also have our own development language.

As a member of the development team you will also have some responsibility in supporting our current customers and solving queries that they might have regarding our products.

Responsibilities

You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and technologies, gain an understanding of some of the wider aspects of the development process, and get invaluable experience working in the only FTSE100 software company in the UK.

The Internship scheme will run for approximately 12 months, and will include a fast start onboarding into roles within our organisation allowing you to make a significant contribution to our business quickly.

You will spend the 12 months working with one of our product development teams, working on the front line of developing products for different market segments.
