ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting and rare opportunity has emerged to join the InnerDrive team at our London office on a sandwich placement year. As a result of this placement, the successful candidate will have greatly improved their understanding of implementing computer science practices in the real world. Furthermore, this candidate will be viewed upon favourably should they wish to apply for a full-time role at InnerDrive upon graduation.
The role will include, but is not limited to:
• Website development (HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript)
• Coding on our HubSpot Customer Management and blogging back-end
• Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
• Assisting our course designers with online module development

ABOUT YOU

This is a rare opportunity as it is the first time we have offered this role. We are therefore looking for an exceptional candidate. We define exceptional as:
• Are a competent coder with attention to detail
• Are curious and willing to learn on the job
• Are aware of SEO best practices (Helpful but would be happy to teach this)
• Is willing to do more than what is normally expected. This includes demonstrating thorough preparation, determination after setbacks and have high levels of motivation to achieve

Our internship will provide you with the opportunity to become familiar with Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E). You’ll participate in technically focused training, team meetings and work on projects and present your results. During your internship you will be supported by a buddy and your manager who will ensure that you have a valuable learning experience.

As an Intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset
  • Completing internal projects to deliver customer outcomes and identify business improvements
  • Learning internal software to assist with the completion of projects and tasks
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and interns to interact and network with global business leaders
  • Applying Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures in all situations to ensure compliance is maintained

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from Master’s degree in any of the following subjects: Computer science, Digital & Interaction Design, Mathematical Engineering, Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering, Management Engineering or in courses related to Software Engineering, Data science (Machine Learning and Deep Learning), IoT, Cyber Security, Block-Chain etc.
  • Have maintained a GPA grade greater than or equal to 3.0 out of 4.0 or the equivalent in your country
  • Be in your in your final or penultimate year of degree studies
  • Be fluent in oral and written English
  • Have the legal right to work without restrictions in a full time capacity

Digital Technology

Whether you are a software engineer or studying a degree in Data Science, there are opportunities for you to work on an assignment or project within the Digital Technology landscape to stretch your learning and skillset. An assignment in Digital Technology could potentially be in one or more of the following areas:

Placement Year at Principle One

Work Placement Job Specification

Organisation Description:

Principle One is a small, rapidly growing, specialist consultancy firm, founded in 2018. We work in partnership with UK Law Enforcement and National Security to address the complex challenges of an evolving threat landscape. From systems engineering to business change, we bring deep understanding of the domain and a passion for supporting those who work to make the UK a safer place.

Location:

We are based in Vauxhall in London and combine office-based with remote working and occasional work from customer site across the UK.

Role Description:

At Principle One we offer a year-long industrial placement starting in July. In this role, you will be mentored by our experienced staff to develop your skills with a focus on teamwork and problem solving. You will learn about all aspects of systems engineering and have the chance to develop your skills in business analysis, software development and agile delivery.

Requirements:

We are seeking applicants with a strong academic track record; ideally in a STEM subject but we are also open to candidates from broader backgrounds with a strong interest in working in the Law Enforcement sector. We are looking for applicants who are good communicators, self-starting and keen to learn.

Recruitment is now open for the academic year 2021 – 2022.

Due to the nature of the role and the work we undertake with our clients, you should be a British Citizen and will be required to complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks ahead of employment. You should also be willing to apply for security check (SC) clearance.

Salary:

The roles will be paid at a rate of £21,000 p.a plus a benefits package.
