Research Software Intern – Newcastle University

Closing date: 12/11/2023

Duration: The internships are each expected to be for a total of 100 hours, working approximately 10 hours per week between December 2023 and March 2024. Working days and times are flexible.

Bursary/wage: £17.19 per hour

The main task is to develop a demonstration of the F1TENTH ( https://f1tenth.org/ ) autonomous racing cars suitable for University Open Days and Offer Holder Days. This involves commissioning hardware, track, and software elements. A key element is to prepare materials that allow other colleagues and student ambassadors to explain to visitors and guests what is happening in the demonstration.

AI Annotator for Ecological Data – Newcastle University

Closing date: 06/11/2023

Duration: This internship is expected to be for a total of 60 hours, working up to 20 hours per week between November and December. Working days and times are flexible.

Bursary/wage: £13.44 per hour

In this role you will be trained in image annotations for ecological applications and gain an overview of the process for creating AI models such as object segmentation and object recognition using YOLO models. Your job will be to help annotate photos of various hedgerows for stems, scale bars, and canopy using the simple online annotation tool Roboflow ( https://roboflow.com/annotate )

Employer Connect: Succeeding as a Graduate Developer at mkodo

In this session they will go into the iGaming industry that mkodo operates in, their products and the customer projects they deliver. They’ll look at the mkodo’s Graduate Developer scheme, the investment that mkodo makes in graduates and what you could get out of it. They’ll also talk about general tips for graduates on how to succeed as a Graduate Developer and set off on a successful career in software development.

We are looking for an intern to overhaul our website and internet presence. The website is outdated and needs some urgent attention from someone that is creative and passionate about what is possible. The successful candidate will research, design, and implement technical specifications for projects based on user requirements.

Bringing Back Aspire and Inspire!

Inspire

Inspire is a one-day networking event designed specifically for students who don’t have established contacts. As a result of the event, students will be able to connect with prominent employers in the UK, creating new connections and opening doors to exciting future opportunities for them! They will take part in unique interactive sessions, all of which are designed to help them kick-start their career, and include in-depth conversations with top employers, including recruitment representatives, graduate scheme managers, and directors.
