Some of you have been asking about language modules to complement your degree. Can I recommend an additional possibility, which will feature on your transcript on graduation, studied alongside your other modules…

 University Wide Language Programme

We offer free language classes to all Newcastle University students. Join us to learn Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish.

Classes take place in the evening. Modules are worth 10 credits.

You will receive two weekly contact hours. The modules will be recognised on your marks transcript as extra credit.

MA SCHOLARSHIPS:

– One £5,000 competitive scholarships for non-UK & non-EU students to study on MA Contemporary European Philosophy, 2017/18 start: a unique, 18-month programme jointly run and awarded with the Philosophy Department at the University of Paris 8, Saint-Denis. A good reading knowledge of French is a requirement for admission to the programme. Language support is offered in London in semester 1. – Four £2,000 scholarships open to all applicants: one for each of our four taught MA/MPhilStud programmes:

  • MA Aesthetics and Art Theory,
  • MA Modern European Philosophy
  • MA Philosophy and Contemporary Critical Theory
  • MPhilStud in Philosophy (2-year taught MPhil programme in Modern European Philosophy with 25,000-30,000 word dissertation. Only full time applicants are eligible for the scholarship, £2000.00 in each of the 2 years of the programme.)

DEADLINE for applications: 24 April 2017

PHD SCHOLARSHIP:

PhD Studentship Competition for autumn 2017 start. The competition for these prestigious research studentships is open to students who wish to study for a full-time PhD at Kingston University. Funding of fees is at UK/EU level. The doctoral stipend for 2017/18 has been confirmed as £16,553 (three years full time).
