Code of Conduct

At CLS we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and collegial conference experience. We encourage delegates to be mindful of the international nature of our community when preparing presentations/posters and engaging in conversations at the event, respecting cultural and linguistic differences.

We will ensure that CLS is an inclusive conference experience for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, or language, political or other opinion, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, physical appearance, age, religion or economic class. Discrimination, harassment or bullying will not be tolerated.

Harassment and intimidation include but are not limited to overt and/or covert acts of:
 – Verbal accusations or bullying
 – Unsolicited physical contact
 – Unwelcome sexual attention – both verbal and physical
 – Stalking or following someone
 – Sustained disruption of talks or other events
 – Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour

This applies to both formal and informal spaces in and around the conference and to electronic as well as personal interactions. Informal spaces include tea and coffee breaks, lunch breaks, the conference social event etc.

Conference delegates violating these rules may be expelled from the conference without a refund, at the discretion of the conference organisers.

If you experience or observe behaviours that contravene this code of conduct at CLS, please notify one of the local CLS organisers, who will provide assistance. The CLS inbox (cls2024@newcastle.ac.uk) will also be monitored for issues that arise during the conference.
