Call for Papers – NOW CLOSED

The Child Language Symposium returns in 2024 at Newcastle University! Our invited keynotes are Prof. Ben Ambridge (University of Manchester), Prof. Judy Clegg (University of Sheffield), Prof. Chloë Marshall (University College London), Prof. Jason Rothman (University of Tromsø) and we will hold a pre-conference workshop on methodologies.

We’re delighted to welcome submissions for oral/signed presentations (20 minutes + 5 Q&A), lightning talks (5 mins + shared Q&A) and poster presentations. Authors should indicate which type of presentation is preferred. The organising committee views all formats as having equal value but reserves the right to switch formats to suit the programme. Presenters will be notified about the final format of their presentation at the time their proposal is accepted.

The Child Language Symposium is a peer-reviewed research conference and all proposals will be reviewed anonymously by the abstract committee.

Submissions on any topic in child language development from any field or framework are welcome. If you’re not sure that your work is appropriate, email us at cls2024@ncl.ac.uk.

We will also be inviting presentations on work in progress that might benefit from discussion at the design (pre-data collection and/or pre-registration) stage, in order to encourage submissions from students and early career researchers. This also fits in with our emphasis on the principles of open science, which we hope will inform both the work submitted and discussions around it.

Abstracts are limited to 350 words (excluding references and figure captions). Figures are permitted but must fit on the same A4/letter size page as the abstract text and references. Please submit via the Oxford Abstracts submissions platform; abstracts may be pasted directly into the form or uploaded as a .pdf file.
