Durham University is seeking a motivated and technically skilled individual to join our Linux/Unix technical service delivery function within Computing and Information Services for a one year student placement opportunity. As Durham University delivers against its ambitious strategy for 2017-2027 this is an exciting opportunity to meet the needs of the modern institution. The successful applicant will join a highly competent team deploying DevOps methodologies to deliver outstanding user facing services and internal administrative functions.

As part of the team the role holder will share responsibility for the management and development of distributed LINUX computing services to support Durham University in delivering world class teaching and research. The student placement opportunity has been created for an individual actively engaged in a relevant degree programme with a ‘year in industry’ sandwich component.

As part of your Student Placement you will take an active role in the installation, configuration and upgrade of Linux/Unix services for the University. Work will be at shoulder with existing team members and those who support our network and Microsoft Windows estate.
