ONEPlanet DTP Research Experience Placements 2023

NERC ONEPlanet Summer Research Experience Placements

We are delighted to be able to offer fiveplacements for current undergraduates/integrated Masters students to undertake research in one of our partner institutions this summer. ONE Planet offers a cohort-based doctoral training partnership at Newcastle and Northumbria Universities. The Natural and Environmental Research Council (NERC) funds the partnership. Our vision is to provide a training environment that develops and fosters innovative, transformative ways of working. We aim to produce independent research scientists and future leaders. They will design sustainable transdisciplinary responses needed to address intensifying global change.

REP Scheme Overview

Research Experience Placements (REPs) are available to encourage undergraduates undertaking quantitative subjects outside of NERC remit to consider careers in environmental science. During a REP, an Undergraduate joins the hosting organisation for up to 8 weeks to complete a short-term research project within the environmental sciences. A short introduction programme will also be provided to ensure you are supported during your placement. This includes the assignment of a ONE Planet PGR mentor. If you successfully complete a REP with us, and subsequently apply for a PhD studentship with us, you are guaranteed an interview for that PhD.

The ONE Planet DTP has six REPs available for Summer 2023 and a choice of nine projects to choose from hereSuccessful applicants would be paid at a minimum level of the national living wage and where necessary receive a contribution towards research and training expenses during the placement.
