New co-chair model!

DIG logo: the letters "DIG" over silhouettes of three people. One person has a leg prosthesis, one is standing upright, and the third is sat in a wheelchair.

The Disability Interest Group (DIG) relaunched in July 2023 with a new Co-Chair model. The network now has three chairs: Stephanie Roberts, Christian Lawson-Perfect, and Kevin Johnson. The chairs have a variety of professional and lived experiences and have a passion for disability inclusion. They are also looking for new members to join our DIG Steering Group!

The DIG Steering Group meets every 6 weeks. This is a confidential space where members can develop events, share experiences, and provide feedback to the institution on areas of disability interest. Membership is comprised of those with and without declared disabilities and all people who are allied to disability inclusion are welcome!

Members are welcome to get involved in creating events alongside Co-Chairs. This year, the DIG are creating an event during Disability History Month and will be lighting Kings Gate purple to acknowledge International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Friday 1st December. The DIG are keen to include members and welcome contact from interested parties about joining up.

If you are interested in joining our Steering Group or have any questions, please email contact.dig@newcastle.ac.uk.
