My work revolves around the lines between literal and metaphorical ways of thinking. Looking at the world from different perspectives and through poetic narratives, to find the height of emotion in scenarios that go beyond the normality of everyday life. I am interested in, how we create stories to justify things that have happened and deal with issues we’d rather not have to face. To create coping mechanism to explain the unexplainable and subsequently, how the most important people in our lives become poems, stories, plays and folk tales of protagonists, lovers and foes. I explore this through personal stories that evolve into sculptural pieces and contemporary jewellery, particularly wood and ceramics. Which are accompanied by text and sound, to portal the audience into a metaphoric dream of tactility, materiality and poetic narration.
“Listen.
Listen to the ocean swallowing its shores and spitting out the sand through its pearly teeth onto the eyelashes of children sleeping. Sleeping, dreaming. Dreaming of wooden tongues trapped in nets of pearls, the tides teeth grazing their tastebuds and silver sea urchins growing in their throats, piercing their petticoats of satin and nylon like a brooch on a funeral coat.”
