A new year.

20150919_124309Welcome or welcome back, as the case may be, to the Philosophy degree for 2015-2016. There have been a few changes.

First, welcome to all the new first years and if stages 2 and 3 see them looking a little lost in the common room, offer to help. We also welcome two new members of staff, Dr Lisa Foran and Dr Adam Potts, who are joining us and will add some new subjects and thinkers to our curriculum.

Also, we find ourselves in a new building with a lovely new common room. You finally have somewhere to make coffee, which seems to have been the most persistent grumble of late. If you are lost for something to do, PhilSoc are recruiting members at the freshers’ fair and have organised a pub crawl for next week.

Two points to sign off. This blog is hopefully going to be used quite a bit to communicate news and should you want to write something, publicise something  or comment, please do. Contributions can be sent to me (David) or just comment below (you may need to log in — bottom right!) and to start us off a competition:

First to guess what the picture is, wins. Enter below…

  1. Okay. Didn’t last as long as I thought. Well done. You are the winner.

Think about how the perception of the body is different from our own anatomical designs and ask, first, whether one (or both) are wrong and, most importantly, what it means to be wrong.
