Our interns will be involved in a range of projects at Wavehill, and this can be tailored to the local area and interests of the intern. At any time we can be working on upwards of 100 projects, providing lots of variety and opportunity to be involved with various tasks in the research process.

Elders Council Research and Impact Intern, The Elders Council

Closing date: 22/04/2024

Duration: This internship will run for 120 hours undertaken flexibly around your course. Summer June – Sep, flexible on average 10 hours per week. You will attend business premises as well as work remotely. Potential for the internship to develop further after the summer.

We are seeking a student intern to undertake the role of Research Involvement and Impact Coordinator. Elders Council has always been actively involved in research into issues that are relevant and useful to our members. This has been done in a variety of ways including leading and designing our own research projects, responding to requests from academics for participants and representatives as well as having a role in shaping and advising research programmes.

Research Assistant (Dog Behaviour Coding), Newcastle University

Closing date: 31/03/2024

Duration: This internship is expected to be for a total of 60 hours, working approximately 10 hours per week between May and mid-June. Working days and times are flexible.

Bursary/wage: £13.58 per hour including holiday pay

The intern will conduct behavioural coding of video data involving dogs responding to human interactions. This will likely be done in BORIS open-source software using a pre-developed ethogram focused on dog behaviour (tail wag, ear movement, head orientation, etc.). The data will be combined with other student project data to evaluate how dogs respond to interactions with strangers.
