About

I am a linguist working at Newcastle University. I teach and research on how children learn their first language(s) and how people use different types of questions in conversation. Head over to my Academic Linguist page for links to my published articles and details about presentations and projects.

I’m also a 2023 AHRC-BBC New Generation Thinker, so I get the privilege of turning my research into stories and discussions for the general public. If you’d like to have a listen, head over to my Writings and Speakings page.

Despite all this, I want to (honestly, need to) practise my writing more, especially short pieces for non-academic audiences. These efforts are hosted in my Thoughts on Language page.
