Tom E. McAllister
Tom is currently a Royal Society University Research Fellow in the School of
Natural and Environmental Sciences at Newcastle University.
He completed a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Mathematics at the University of Leeds in 2008, staying on in Leeds to undertake a PhD with Mike Webb investigating the protein post-translational modification phosphophistidine and later working as a post-doctoral researcher with Bruce Turnbull engineering protein nanostructures through carbohydrate-protein interactions.
After a stint as a Teaching Fellow in Organic and Biological Chemistry at the University of York, in 2014 he moved to the University of Oxford as a post-doctoral researcher with Akane Kawamura developing an mRNA-display cyclic peptide discovery platform.
He relocated to Newcastle University when the group moved in 2019 and began his independent career in 2022 as a URF
