Join NU-REN

To join the NU-REN Network as a member or ally please complete the sign-up form.

About Membership

Membership is open to all academic and professional services staff, post-graduates students (Ph.D/mPhil students), and early career researchers at Newcastle University who self-identify as belonging to a minoritised group on the grounds of ethnicity.

We welcome support and involvement from allies. An ‘ally’ is someone who is not minoritised by ethnicity but has privilege or power and the choice to stand for and with marginalised staff by taking tangible, ongoing actions to support their cause in dismantling systems of disadvantage.

Why join NU-REN?

The issues of racial inequalities, that persist in our society and at educational institutions, are a reality for many staff members, post-graduate students, and early career researchers. Joining the network is one way to get support on these matters.

If you want to push forward and gain resources on racial equity, then joining the network can be extremely beneficial for you. Remember to follow our twitter page at  @NU_RaceEquality for frequent updates and resources.

The network is supportive and welcoming, and offers a safe space for individuals to meet like-minded people and discuss issues of racial inequality.

Joining NU-REN will open you up-to many opportunities to develop your transferable and interpersonal skills, and engage in career and professional development.
