PhD Topic: Turn-taking in Chinese and English: The Role of Speech Rate and Regularity
Supervisors: Laurence White & Kai Alter

My PhD research is on the relationship between speech timing and conversational timing: At the moment, I am looking at whether there is a relationship between speech rate and regularity on the one hand, and the way we time our contributions in conversation on the other hand. I am also interested in what might drive that relationship and what effect it has on perceived fluency.
