The Research Team in China:

Guojun Zeng, Ph.D. and professor, is the associate dean of School of Tourism Management in Sun Yat-sen University, P. R. China. He is also the director of Research Center of Hospitality Management and the expert in Consultative Committee of people’s government of Haizhu District, Guangzhou. Dr. Zeng has taught and researched in the area of food & beverage tourism, hospitality and management strategy for a long time and become one of the leading researchers in this field, and he also cultivated a batch of outstanding graduates in this field.

Dr. Zeng has published over 60 research articles in major journals, such as International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Tourism Economics, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of China Tourism Research, Sustainability, Tourism Tribune, Journal of Geographical Sciences, Chinese Geographical Sciences, Human Geography and so on.

Dr. Zeng focused on the food and culture geography and especially the food geography in tourism and mobility. Based on the existing researches, he organized the research team on food geography in China and is calling for new research assistants, Post-doctor or Distinguished Associate Researcher. 曾国军,博士、教授,中山大学旅游学院院长助理。曾教授是中山大学旅游学院酒店与饮食中心主任,同时兼任酒店与俱乐部管理系主任,担任广东省广州市、珠海市等咨询专家团队成员。曾国军教授从事美食旅游、饮食地理等教育和研究工作,研究兴趣包含酒店管理战略、饮食文化地理等,是中国酒店管理研究领域的领军人物,培养了一大批优秀的学生。

曾教授在国际、国内顶级期刊上发表论文近60篇,例如在《International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship》、《Cornell Hospitality Quarterly》、《Tourism Economics》、《International Journal of Hospitality Management》、《Journal of China Tourism Research》、《Sustainability》、《旅游学刊》、《地理研究》、《地理学报》、《地理科学》、《人文地理》等。

Dr Shuru Zhong is Research Associate co-ordinating the Guangzhou case-study. Shuru is a cultural anthropologist in the field of food study and consumer culture. She completed her PhD at Texas A&M University in which she analyzde the strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats of both farmers’ markets and supermarkets in terms of supply chains, government policies, and consumer culture to contribute to local governments’ policy-making process of planning, upgrading and developing food marketplaces.

Longjie Wang is a PhD candidate of School of Tourism Management in Sun Yat-sen University. His major research interest includes food geography, the role of food in the making of home in mobility and tourism. His research papers have been accepted by Economic Geography (a top journal in China), Acta Geographica Sinica, and the paper on Sustainable Food System is now under review by Geographical Research. Longjie Wang undertakes the research design, interview with local people, data analysis and so on in the ESRC SCArFEthics Project. Email:1262188565@qq.com

Yuchen Xu is a PhD candidate of School of Tourism Management in Sun Yat-sen University. His major research interest includes food & beverage geography, the ethic of food consumption and food consumption culture. His research papers have been accepted by World Regional Studies (a top journal in China), Tourism Tribune. Yuchen Xu will undertake the research design, data collection and analysis, the ethic analysis of food consumption in the ESRC SCArFEthics Project, especially he will proceed to conduct a systematic and critical review on the consumption ethics in the near future.
