Competitions in March

  • BBC National Short Story Award 2019: the deadline is on 11 March. They are very strict terms and conditions, however, this is one of the popular and prestigious prizes to try, and if you succeed, the awards are great.
  • Harper’s Bazaar short story competition, which has just launched, and which some of your students may be interested in entering. Writers are invited to submit up to 2,500 words on the theme of ‘Liberty’, the title of a short story by Vita Sackville-West published in our October 1930 issue. The deadline is 15 March.   • Limnisa Short Story Competition. Entry Free. 1,500 words. Deadline 30 March.
  • Cinnamon Press Poetry Pamphlet: submit 15 – 25 poems. A prize is a publishing contract plus 30 copies of the pamphlet.  Deadline 31 March.
  • Aesthetica Magazine is currently open for submissions for their Creative Writing Award in poetry or short fiction categories. The special discounted offer to enter ends on 29 March. The deadline is 31 August.
  • Alpine Fellowship Writing Prize and Alpine Fellowship Theatre Prize. the theme for the writing competition is ‘identity’ and for the script one a dialogue sample with a treatment proposal. Deadline 1 April.
