ONLINE Presence/ Setting up a free WORDPRESS website
Setting up a free WordPress Website
This series of online videos is an introductory workshop looking at the basics of setting up a website that will be hosted by WordPress, which is free to use. Help can also be provided in modifying the design or other aspect of an existing website, or to install WordPress on your own hosting plan.
Setting up a website can be a time consuming process, both in collating and adding your content, as well as selecting and editing the theme.
The following 10 bite-sized sessions (links) cover all the aspects of the workshop and it would be good to watch all the videos and follow them to build your website and then Get any additional help from Mick in the media suite for any questions or issues.
There are a few things to think about:
- Your domain name, which will be in the format of myartwebsite.wordpress.com
- Look for some websites that you like for their design and/or content.
- Make a wireframe diagram (drawing) of your site structure.
- Create a word document for your statement, C.V. or any other text you want on the website so you can cut and paste it into your pages.
- Create a folder on your desktop and copy into it all the content you want to add to your website.
- Select the images you want to have on your site put them into your website folder. It is good practice to rename them descriptively.
