WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH RESUSCITATION!!
Pre COVID, open studios consisted of students displaying work, research material, texts etc in studio spaces where we’d have an evening of wine and walking around the department. This year, like everything else, we’re going digital.
Open studios has always been a mandatory event in the past, this year it’s up to us as the student body to maintain the community that makes NCL fine art department such a special place to study.
The content is really loose, have fun!! All we need is a short intro about yourself as an artist and images of recent work. You can include themes you’re interested in, book/film/artist recommendations and personal contact information (this can be instagram, email etc). Submitting your work is easy and should only take 30 minutes so please please please take part!
The format must be a SINGULAR LANDSCAPE A4 PDF document
Attached is a sample so you can get a feel of what we’re looking for (take it with a pinch of salt – its a ncl right of passage to hate on Antony Gormley)
Send your submissions to openstudiosncl@gmail.com <———- please include NAME, YEAR AND STUDIO NUMBER IN SUBJECT BOX
THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT IS FRIDAY 13TH NOVEMBER
The purpose of this activity is to reignite the sense of community that open studios would provide. We hope that once the document is published on the fine art community board you will look through the documents as you would’ve looked through the studios. We encourage you to reach out to at least one other person whose work you either enjoyed or you would like to engage with further :)
Please don’t feel any pressure to show complete works – work in progress is encouraged! We are all at the beginning of the year, this is a social event NOT an academic one. This is about conversation and getting to know our peers :)))
We can’t wait to see the exciting things you’re all working on!!! <3.<3
Lots of love and distanced hugs n kisses
