How did the event work?

Colleagues could drop-in to the Boilerhouse between 12 and 3pm and visit the following stalls: Canvas, ReCap, Vevox, Inspera (Digital Exams), Assignments (Canvas, Turnitin and New Canvas Quiz), Buddycheck, NULA, NU Reflect, AI, H5P, as well as Numbas (Digital Exams), Digital Adoption (Microsoft 365 and Adobe), FMS-TEL and Library Reading List.

Each stall was hosted by colleagues who could answer questions and showcase how each digital education technology service or tool worked. There were colleagues available to greet attendees and help direct them to appropriate stalls.

Attendees were also given a loyalty card style stamp card where they received a ‘stamp’ for each stall they visited. Once they had visited 4 stalls, they were able to visit the ‘prize table’ to receive a prize.

What did colleagues have to say about the event?

We shared a short survey following the event where we asked for feedback. Check out the quotes from some of our attendees.

Useful event. I attended to a) keep myself up-to-date re developments in the eLearning space; b) know more about what I need to know; and c) connect with colleagues working in this area. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, and benefitted from speaking with a couple of LTDS colleagues on the door. Attendee.

I learned a lot about running online exams; the representative was very knowledgeable and helpful. Attendee.

It was really useful to be able to go and chat to a variety of experts in the different Digital Education Technologies that are available to lecturers to use at Newcastle University. Attendee.

I’ve been impressed by the staff in terms of the knowledge, enthusiasm, and eagerness to help. They demonstrated excellent listening skills and were very keen to understand my questions and needs. They came up with solutions such as on-line training opportunities and genuine willingness to schedule 1:1 or small group meetings for further information and training. Attendee.

The event was incredibly helpful when it came to reflecting on various aspects of my teaching practice and considering how various technologies could support and develop this effectively. Plus the staff at the stalls were amazing, which in turn helps with knowledge, confidence, and building a community of practice. Attendee.

One stall holders commented that "the whole event and process was expertly organised and executed."
