Mental Health Act

Where medicine meets the law, there is a fascinating and often complex interaction. One the one hand, as a doctor you are expected to work with your patient to help them to make informed choices about where and what treatment to have. Under mental health law, as a doctor, you are able to detain and forcibly treat individuals against their will. The contradiction is stark. This section looks to draw together some resources to allow you to make your own mind up and to also point you to the way in which legislation works in the UK and Malaysia.
