Meet the Employability Ambassador Team 2018-2019

As employability ambassadors, we are keen to assist School of Biomedical Sciences students like you in their career development and to help prepare you for life after university. Whether you want advice on placements, work experience, mentoring or just need some guidance on how to structure your CV, please let us know.

Megan recently completed a professional placement year with GSK within the Respiratory Refractory Inflammation Discovery Performance Unit and is working as a student mentor. Had a variety of part-time jobs and volunteered in a pharmacy and GP practice.

Megan – Final year Pharmacology with Professional Placement year

Milutin, an international student with intern experience in the Institute of Cellular Medicine. Currently a student mentor and language tutor in French, English, Serbian and Hungarian.

Milutin – 2nd year Biochemistry

Enrika is currently a student mentor and undertaking the NCL+ award. Volunteered as a Health Awareness Volunteer at Cancer Research UK and worked in a 5-star hotel as a waitress.

Enrika – 2nd year Biomedical Genetics

Holly recently completed a professional placement year at Pfizer and is sectary of the student run BioSci Society. Previous STEM volunteer, SKIP volunteer and treasurer. Various part time job in customer service and catering.

Holly – Final year Biochemistry with Professional Placement Year

Nathan undertook a summer placement at the Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology and was a lab assistant during second year. Final year project was in the Institute of Neuroscience.

Nathan – 4th year MSci Biomedical Sciences

Flo completed a professional placement year at Alcyomics Ltd, Newcastle University and has been a lab assistant in the Wellcome Trust Mitochondrial Centre. To complete her NCL+ advanced award in research, Flo had a summer vacation at the UK Teratology Information Service.

Sophie recently completed a professional placement year at Pfizer within the Commercial Oncology Department. Part-time work involves 1-1 swimming teaching and event assistance. Currently a student mentor and STEM ambassador.

Giles completed his professional placement year at Covance Inc. as a Clinical Project Administrator. Worked in dental practices and hospitals and has recently been to Australia to be a sports coach.

Kaldora is currently a student mentor and undertaking the NCL+ award. Volunteered with the Teddy Bear Hospital scheme at Hillsong and Majesty House Church and been a time4you volunteer at Southampton General Hospital Emergency Department.

Kaldora – 2nd year Biomedical Sciences

Saleena, president of Newcastle Nepalese society, has completed a research placement at Thermofisher Scientific. Currently undertaking the NCL+ award and acting as a student mentor. Volunteered at N.E.S.T and worked part-time in Specsavers.

Saleena – 2nd year Biomedical Sciences

Monalisa completed a summer placement at the Newcastle University Campus for Ageing and Vitality and has worked at the Freeman Hospital and St. Nicholas Hospital as a placement student. Monalisa also works part-time as a translator, interpreter and care assistant at Randstad Care.

Monalisa – 3rd year Biomedical Sciences

Luke recently competed a professional placement year as a Regulatory Affairs Officer at Thornton and Ross Ltd. Previously worked as a summer group Councillor at Camp America in Los Angeles and volunteered in care homes. Luke has also worked through his degree in bars, restaurants and charity fundraising events.
