Teaching

We use a range of learning activities in our teaching to help you work towards meeting learning outcomes: lectures, interactive workshops (discussions of topics, presentations, debates, policy brief practical), hands – on learning in the field, hands-on learning using R statistical software, ArcGIS and ENVI.

UG Level

Biodiversity Science and Policy (BIO3039). Course leader: Dr Marion Pfeifer, 20 credits. Year 3 of UG and MBiol degree programmes Biology and Zoology (BSc Honours, MBiol Honours).

The Africa Field Course. Conservation and Ecological Research in Human-modified Landscapes of Sub-Saharan Africa (BIO3047). Course leader: Dr Marion Pfeifer, 10 credits. UG and MBiol degree programmes Biology and Zoology (BSc Honours, MBiol Honours). Maximum of 15 students. Selection process applied.

PG Level

The CHANS course. Dynamics of Coupled Human And Natural Systems (BIO8072). Course leader: Dr Marion Pfeifer, 20 credits. This is a course that is highly interdisciplinary and hence taught across MSc and MBiol Degree Programmes.

ArcGIS and Remote Sensing (BIO8069). The course is offered as 20 credits option (ArcGis and Remote Sensing) and as 10 credits ArcGIS component option. We contribute to the Remote Sensing component.
