Centre for Life have kindly agreed to provide some training for us prior to the “Meet the Scientist” event at the Body Worlds Vital exhibition in September. The dedicated staff from Centre for Life shared their knowledge on how to present our research to the lay audience, how to interact with the public and how to make science interesting, amongst other things. The training took place at the IGM with 18 participants with varied degrees of public engagement experience. The session was very informative and covered such topics as thinking about scaffolding and encouraging question without pushing them; listening to examples of how to engage with the public and stories; thinking about my story; good advice about interacting with the public (engagement); ideas of what to bring to the Body World exhibition and how to get a conversation going with the public; useful ideas for starting conversations; thinking about terms that have different meanings to scientists and lay public
