In the Corporate Web Development team we develop a web presence for Newcastle University that is designed to be user-focused, task-driven and sustainable. We do this by providing support and guidance to help staff:
- communicate the goals of their site
- identify the needs of their users
- create and maintain high-quality, relevant web content
Our team covers a variety of roles including design, development, project management, liaison, copy writing and editing, and training. Find out more about the members of our team:
Gareth Evans, Senior Web Manager
Gareth is the team manager. His role includes directing strategy, monitoring performance, liaising with a multitude of stakeholders, promoting the importance of UX and occasionally getting the drinks in. He’s also been known to moonlight as a pantomime dame in his youth.
Linda Jameson, Web Production Manager
As manager of the Web Content Officers in the team, Linda makes sure that content meets the standards set in the University’s style guides. She also trains University web editors in writing for the web, project manages site developments and runs user testing sessions.
Jane McFadyen, Web Production Manager
Jane project manages site developments for clients and provides training and advice on writing for web/mobile for our web editors. With expertise in structuring information architecture and creating content strategy, she is passionate about usability and is involved with user testing whenever possible.
Catherine McDonald, Go Mobile Technical Team Leader
Catherine leads the technical work involved in the Go Mobile programme. This includes designing and building new mobile responsive components in T4 and improving existing ones. The technical team works closely with colleagues in NUIT relating to systems which feed information into T4. Catherine loves to get lost in HTML and SCSS.
Steve Curry, Faculty Web Manager (SAgE)
As Web Manager for the Faculty of Science, Agriculture & Engineering (SAgE), Steve is responsible for providing web development and editorial support to Schools, Research Institutes and Centres in the Faculty. Steve also supports the SAgE Faculty Marketing and Recruitment team.
Peter Chau, Assistant Web Analyst
Peter provides development and technical support on the web publication systems and technology used by the University and works closely with our colleagues in NUIT. He also provides advice and support on web analytics, helping our clients determine the effectiveness of their website.
Anne Murphy, Web Training & Support Officer
Anne provides training in the use of web publishing and quality assurance software to our content editors . She’s also the team’s first point of contact for all support and training requests.
Emma Cragg, Web Content Officer
Emma plans, writes and edits content for the central website. She helps to maintain the University’s content style guides and is responsible for development of the team’s website and this blog. Emma is a productivity geek and always on the lookout for solutions that can help the team work smarter.
Lisa Dunn, Web Content Officer
Lisa plans, writes and edits copy for the University’s website. Passionate about creating high quality web content, she helps to maintain the University’s content style guides and provides advice to our web editors. Lisa also supports website development projects and website usability research.
Fen Felton-Pitt, Web Content Officer
Fen plans, writes and edits content for the University websites. She’s passionate about developing smart site architecture and crafting great copy. As an erstwhile web developer and marketeer, she loves researching new software, tools and technology.
